Getting Ready for 2008

Hello friends! :-)

I've been M.I.A. for a while now. Thought I'd take a moment to post before the new year rolls in. Around this time of year, many of us are reflecting on the ups and downs of the year and wondering how we can make it better. I hate making resolutions (especially generic ones like lose weight, be nicer, etc.) because I can never keep them. And once I fall off with keeping them, I usually feel like a terrible, terrible person. Lol! But, against my better judgment, I'm making some anyway!

1. Read the Bible daily in order to get closer to becoming the divine person God created me to be.

2. Create a budget that allows me to save enough money to buy a house in the fall of the year.

3. Thursdays will be my home cleanup day and I will make no bones about it!

4. Manage my time more wisely by not overscheduling and by not wasting valuable time on the phone and watching TV.

5. Submit 3 cards/layouts a month to various magazines in hopes that I get published. (If not, I'll have 3 awesome sets of 12 cards to give someone at Christmas) Yippee!

6. Make 3 weekend trips this year to Greensboro to see friends and family. I miss them and don't get to see them as much as I'd like to. Plus, I'm an auntie again. My half-sister just had her second daughter the day after Christmas. Her other daughter's bday is today. She's 2 years old and an absolute cutie pie! Happy Bday Gaby!

7. Use the card that's been occupying my key ring for over a year the way it's supposed to be used. GO TO THE GYM! (at least twice a week) Hey, gotta start somewhere.

8. Pass all 4 parts of the CPA exam.

What are your New Year's resolutions?

Art Slam update

Just uploaded my pics for Lucrecer's art slam. So far, I've done the backgrounds.

Now, I'm on to collecting and collaging. I'm sure I'll have lots to collage with since I'm now in a state of purging. I've accumulated so much paper, old clothes, etc. Gotta get rid of that stuff. Just from this weekend's purge, I have two bags of gently used clothing that I'll be taking to Goodwill, two bags of trash that I'll be sitting outside my door tonight for pickup, and a whole new wardrobe! Lol! I found soooo many clothes that I forgot I even had! Plus, I've gained a few pounds thanks to my coke, chocolate, anything with "crack" (caffeine) addiction, so I get to wear my chunky monkey clothes for a couple months. :-) It's funny. I have about 5 pairs of pants that only fit when I gain about 10 pounds or so. And I refuse to get rid of them because I always end up needing them when these pounds come. In fact, I'm wearing a pair of them today and I feel great. Those other ones were cutting off my circulation. Lol! So that's my spill for the day. :-)

~ happy friday! ~

First, I want say thanks for all of the birthday wishes. So sweet! I love the women I've met through scrapbooking. All so kind-hearted and thoughtful. Although I had to work that day, I went out for dinner at Pappadeaux that evening. Love me some Pappadeaux! :-)

Anywho, I applied for a couple design teams. Let me tell you. The competition was fierce! I didn't stand a chance. Lol! I'm going to wait until I find my true scrapbooking style before I try again. Then maybe I can give the pros a run for their money!

I've been doing the art slam with Lu, but I'm blogging from my Blackberry so I can't upload pics. It's been really fun though. I have a couple of steps to complete, but there's no rush. I'm just having fun with it.

Let's see ... What else has been going on? I've been thinking a lot about how I got into scrapbooking in the first place. It initially wasn't a matter of preserving my family's memories. It was because I wanted to make cards --- all kinds and for everybody. I am the girl that will stand in the local CVS for hours in search of the perfect card. I refuse to give a card that is generic. Well, along the way, I found scrapbooking. And I feel like they're both an extension of the other, but I really want to do what I initially set out to do. So I think that will be my focus for the next few months. I'd love to get some of the American Crafts Christmas theme paper. I might order it tomorrow if the budget allows. Who am I kidding? I'll just have to take my lunch next week because I already know I'm going order that paper. Lol!

Oh, I almost forgot. I'm going to Jamaica!!! This Friday!!! I am so crunk about this trip. Two of my good friends are getting married there! The couple getting married are the ultimate party-ers, so I know it's going to be so much fun.

Ok, so that's my long-winded post of the day. Have a great weekend!
